Three-Position Air Rifle Shooting is the most popular and fastest growing form of shooting sports competition for youth of high school age or younger. Precision Air Rifle is modeled after Olympic-style shooting and allows the use of specialized target rifles and equipment. Sporter Air Rifle is designed for new competitors or those who desire to compete with a minimum of equipment and expense. In both types of shooting, competitors fire at targets at a distance of 10 meters in three different positions, prone, standing and kneeling If you have questions, please contact or (419) 635-2141, ext. Competitions Competitive marksmanship is a big part of CMP’s mission. It reinforces firearms safety and enables competitors to further develop their marksmanship skills and in many cases, earn recognition for doing so.
If you’re new to competitive shooting, CMP and its affiliated clubs and organizations continually sponsor clinics and workshops to help get you up to speed. If you have questions, please contact or (419) 635-2141 ext. Clubs You’ll find that club affiliation is an important and necessary way to develop a relationship with CMP.

Because there is no such thing as a CMP membership, the best way to participate in many of our programs and/or make purchases through our stores is to be a member of a club. Membership in many of these organizations costs $25.00 or less.
